An Eggless Cake

Try THIS for a change!

An eggless cake sounds almost like a party with no beer, better yet margaritas! (I’m just saying…). That’s how I feel about this idea of baking a cake with no eggs in it. I never thought I would actually try to make one, but I did. Why? Because I ran out of eggs! We wanted to bake a cake and had no eggs…ahhhhhhhh, tragedy.

Nonetheless, I found this recipe. I have to say that not only was I surprised at how well it cooked, but I was amazed at how great it tasted (for not having eggs).

I found the recipe here: “Chef In You”

This is a very simple, and I mean simple cake to make! I tinker with it a little bit, though.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (I used 3)
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (I omitted this step)
  • 1/2 can (400 grams for full can) condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (I omitted the vanilla. Instead, I added 2 teaspoons of chocolate syrup)
  • 1/2 cup of water (I used milk instead)

Steps:

You swift the flour, the cocoa powder and the baking soda together in a large bowl.

You add the condensed milk, the melted butter, the vanilla extract, (or chocolate syrup), together with the flour mix. Then you will add 1/2 cup of water ( or milk) to the mix and whisk it well.

Pour the mixture into a greased baking pan and set the temperature at 360 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) for 20 to 30 minutes. When the knife pick comes out clean, it’s done.

Let it cool completely before adding any toppings. So…what do you think? Not bad, right?

I decorated mine with some raspberries and powdered sugar.

Then, I added chocolate syrup. Yum!
