ESPRIT was one of those brands that my mother used to shop for us back in Puerto Rico. Few people know…it’s was truly an American Brand, born in 1968 in California, USA. Here in Switzerland, people believe is European, to no surprise…it fits the market perfectly. I used to think it was French for the longest time ever.
Today, ESPRIT is one of my favorite brands to shop!
I never stop shopping ESPRIT…never. At the beginning, I would get it in Puerto Rico, of course, then in TEXAS. My sister and I would go to the San Marcos Outlets, and I seriously would go there first to spend my money before any of the other stores. Consider it a sentimental value, but I’m attached to the brand, after all, it was (I thought) the coolest brand to wear in the early 80’s…that and HANG TEN, Ocean Pacific…OK, OK, don’t hurt yourself, Ana.
The last time I shop ESPRIT back in the USA? In San Marcos, for the big Black Friday sale of 2009. My sister and I went and bought tons of stuff at ridiculously cheap prices. It was Black Friday. If you don’t have a savings of over 40%…it’s not a good sale.
ESPRIT pull the plug and called it quits in North America for they started losing beaucoups of $$$ for not being able to stay competitive enough..good thing they are competitive over the rest of the world. Now ESPRIT is publicly owned and their headquarters are in EUROPE and ASIA.
Lucky for me, I now live in Europe, where I can get an overdose of the brand! Now I get to shop ESPRIT for me and my 5 year old daughter. You know, I must confess…I still get a goodie feeling every time I see the name E S P R I T in the streets. Call me sentimental but I can’t help it. So True!
