Another language to learn…
Tomorrow I start my German lessons! This will be my 5th language! I speak Spanish, English, French and Portuguese. And now, German! I’m actually stoked! Let me tell you why!
I’m tired of translating everything I get in the mail, or from my daughter’s school, or from the doctors, the bills, etc…, uhhhhhh…! I don’t want to do it anymore. I translate stuff using google translate, but guess what.., google translate does not have Swiss German. It does help somewhat because it is well a dialect of German. But the truth is, it’s hard to learn a dialect! The worst thing about it is that it will become totally useless once you leave the country.
So I signed up for Hochdeutsch, in other words, Standard German language. I just hope I can keep up with the lessons for I signed up for the intensive course, (good grief!). It goes much faster and more work in a day’s week. Regardless, I must push myself to learn it and learn it quick. My daughter will start first grade next year! I see it now. She comes home and asks me, “Mom, I need help with my homework..” and I’d be translating word by word her assignment, looking stupid and dumb! I don’t want to look stupid and sound dumb! Hell, no!
Well, I’m glad I got all that out of my chest ’cause right now, I need all the luck I can get. With that being said…I will leave you right now with a favorite song of mine. Enjoy!
